Cinnamon Swirl Bread

So it’s been a pretty quiet week around here. I was pretty sick and was out of the kitchen. Most of the week was spent in bed!

This weekend I took it easy and enjoyed the mild weather we finally got! (Is it spring yet???)

I’m feeling much better now and decided to give a recipe I found on Pinterest a try!

This recipe is from http://www.averiecooks.com this one is for her cinnamon swirl bread! There are a few steps to making this delicious bread but the results are so worth the wait! I love trying recipes that I find online and this one was a definite winner that I will not hesitate to make again! (I’m thinking sooner rather than later!)

You can find the recipe here: http://www.averiecooks.com/2012/11/cinnamon-swirl-bread.html

The bread filled our house with the most delicious cinnamon smell and the bread was so moist and flavorful! I love cinnamon rolls and this bread is pretty close!

This morning we popped a piece in the toaster and added a little butter. It was heaven!!

It’s good to feel back to normal again and eating something yummy doesn’t hurt either!

This was our finished product! I had to hold my guys back from demolishing the entire loaf right out of the oven!

Head over to http://www.averiecooks.com and try the recipe for yourself!

Enjoy!

Easy Apple Torte

apple torte

After few lazy days last week…..(hey it was my birthday!) followed by going out for a belated birthday dinner with friends and family Saturday night. It’s time to get back into the kitchen!

This week I’m going back to one of my apple recipes.

Reasons being: it’s delicious,
there were apples on sale at our local grocery store,
And last maybe most important of all, I wanted something yummy to eat while I watched all those skinny celebrities walk the Oscars red carpet!

This cake turns out so moist and is delish topped with vanilla a ice cream!

Easy Apple Torte

  • 3/4 Cup flour
  • 3/4 tsp baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3 large apples (your choice I used Granny Smith)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3/4 Cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla ext
  • 8 Tbsp butter melted, then cooled to room temp

preheat oven to 350
move oven rack to the center of your oven
grease an 8 or 9 inch springform pan.

In a small bowl whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt.

Peel and core your apples and dice them into 1 inch pieces.

In a large bowl beat your eggs until frothy.
Then whisk in your sugar then your vanilla.

Add half your flour mixture to your wet mixture, followed by half of your melted butter. Repeat with the rest of your flour mixture then the remainder of the butter.

Fold in the apple pieces until well coated in the batter.

Scrape the batter and apples into your prepared pan and then smooth with a spatula.

Bake for 50-60 min or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

Let cool for 5 minutes before removing from your pan.

There you go, easy and so good!

Not recommended for anyone looking to squeeze into a gown and walk the red carpet, but perfect for sitting on the couch in your pjs watching from home!

Enjoy
