Chocolate Chip Pound Cake

Yesterday, I experienced a rare occurrence in our home. Both children slept past 8:30! So what did I do with this free time? Go back to sleep? Enjoy actually finishing a cup of coffee while its still hot?

Nope, this lady made a chocolate chip pound cake!

Frankie commented that the house smelled sooooo good when he woke up! I made sure to tell him not to get used it! The next time this happens (fingers crossed) I’ll be staying in bed.

Try this recipe for yourself, it tastes great no matter what time you make it!

Chocolate Chip Pound Cake

  • 1 3/4 Cup flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1Tbsp vanilla
  • 3/4 butter (softened)
  • 1Cup sugar
  • 1 Cup chocolate chips

1. Preheat oven to 350, grease a 9 inch loaf pan.

2. In a small bowl whisk flour and salt, set aside.

3. In a mixing bowl, beat butter and sugar until fluffy. ( about 5 mins)

4. Slowly add in eggs, then yolks, then vanilla. Beat until fluffy. (About 3 mins)

5. Add the flour mixture gradually to your wet ingredients, beat on low until combined.

6. Fold in chocolate chips.

7. Pour batter into pan. Bake for 50- 60 mins or until a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean.

8. Let cake cool for 20-30 min before removing from pan.

We had a piece right after it cooled for a bit, it was still warm and so good!

Enjoy,

Fran

Hi. Just wanted to check on the amount of salt. Is the 1/4 cup salt accurate or should it be teaspoon or tablespoon? I just tried this recipe and it seems fairly salty with the 1/4 cup. Just want to be sure i made it right. Thank you
